Great Thursday

It is so nice to be able to type what I want onto a blog. It has been a busy Thursday for me. I have administered 3 library surveys today. I have 12 more to give within the next 3 weeks. Slowly but surely, professors are scheduling the time when I can go to their class and give the survey. The hard part will be getting bibiliographies from this I have requested them from. That requires more effort on the professors' part and I don't thin they are willing to give up the time.
Just hope I get some good statistics for this semester. We will see!

It has been a great Wednesday. Have all my library surveys ready for administering, now all I need to do is schedule them. It is my Brither Stacey's Birthday this week but I can't remember the day. I am thinking it is today. Our Dad died on the 6th of November in 1980 so I am pretty sure that today is the day. He and I really don't keep in touch. I love him because he is my brother but we share nothing in common.
I will be working on Thomas' UT bathroom once again when I get home. There are still many things to get done but they are small.
Borth Samuel & Thomas have full-dressed rehearsal tonight for 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. I an anxious to see their performance. I know they will do great.

It's HALLOWEEN

It has finally made it, Halloween. We do allow the boys to go get candy but other than that, it is just another day.

It has been a great week here at my job in that I have been able to help several students with their research. It is always satisfying for me to know that I have given a student credible resources that are going to take their topic in the direction that they want it to go.

I managed to get another wall textured in Thomas' bathroom. Just a few more small sections and then it will be time to paint. It will probably take two coats because I can see the first coat being absorbed by the texture compound on the wall. Will be glad when it is all done and then move on to the next project which is painting Thomas' bedroom burnt orange. Well, just three walls and the other one white. Please remind me that I love doing this!

Thomas' Bathroom

I am in the process of renovating Thomas' bathroom. I did not know that texturing walls was so gruelling. I am going to paint the walls white and decorate the room in UT. Samuel has Africa, Thomas can have UT.  I am hoping I can get this done by the time of the musical production next week. We have company coming in. It is CRUNCH TIME!
Here it is Tuesday, October 30. Boy, this month has gone by so fast. I can't believe that in less than 2 weeks, Thomas and Samuel will be in the musical, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" Samuel is playing Benjamin & Thomas is playing Gideon. I am excited for them both as they use their God given talents to entertain others. Performance dates are November 10, 11 & 12.

Very proud of my oldest son, Samuel who has completed his lifeguard certification training and is a substitute lifeguard at the Country Club pool. He will also be the lifeguard at our church camp this year down at Lost Pines.

My Mom & Dad

Just thinking about my Mom. Her birthday will be coming soon on March 8th. I really miss her, I was expecting her to live as long as my granddad which was 88 but she died at 68. Sometimes I feel like I was robbed having her gone out of my life so soon, and to not have my Dad, who died when I was 18, leaves me with all kinds of wonderings. Would our relationship have gotten better over the years or would time have driven us farther apart. I do imagine that he would have been proud of my boys and would have travelled to see them as often as he could. My Mom, I only wish that she would have wanted to be with the boys more but she had a new husband to take care of and pay attention to. I love and miss them both and can't wait to see them again on the other side. Hoping that my Dad accepted Christ before he died, but definitely knowing that Mom is over there waiting for me.

Happy Thursday!

Two days after Valentine's Day! Hope everyone had a good one with someone special. I did. Paula & I have been together for 22 years and this time of the year is always special. It is even more special since we have our 2 boys to share it with.
It has been awhile since I have shared anything on here. I am not an avid blogger. My life is just so busy. For example, I started reading a book 2 days ago and I have not made it past the first chapter. I am a very picky reader because I have to have it absolutely quiet. It is aggrevating when my wife or kids interrupt me. When it happens, I have to go back and re-read the previous paragraph. If I do make it through a book, it is a major accomplishment. I have heard that it is good to have about three or four books going. Usually, I try to have at least, 1 fiction, & 1 self-improvement going on.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I had one 0f the best Christmases! Paula, the boys & I drove to North Carlina. It was wonderful to see my 2 brothers & my sister. Others within my family I was able to see, on my Mother's side: Aunt Sally Lou Gee, Aunt Catherine Britton & Uncle Robert Floyd. On my Father's side: Uncle Joe Kinnin, Aunt Connie Kinnin, Uncle Dallas Dixon, Aunt Nadine Kinnin and many of my cousins. I was also able to visit with many dear friends. My sons wanted me to show them where I went to school so I took them to Manning Elementary School, Chalenor Middle School, & Roanoke Rapids High School. We had a great time.
My wife and sister threw an "Over the Hill" Birthday party for me. I was thoroughly surprised and had a marvelous time with family and friends who came. It was at Logan's Roadhouse.
On Christmas Eve, I was able to go into my Grandfather's, Samuel Blick Floyd, old home in White Plains, Virginia. My Uncle Robert has not lived in it for 8 years. It has gotten very run down. He allowed me to get some things out to remenber my Granddad and to let my boys see where their Grandmother, Ima Jean Floyd Kinnin Newsome, grew up. I got a steamer trunk, a quilt and the most important were old photoes of the family. That evening there was a gathering of my Aunt Nadine and her children and we then went to a Candlelight Service at Rosemary Methodist Church where my nephew, Kelly Kinnin performed.

Christmas Day, we went to my sister's church, First Pentecostal Holiness, for morning service. We were invited to have lunch with Mrs. Edna Weeks and her family. That evening we all gathered at my sister's for gift opening. It was wonderful to be with them. Normally, I just talk to them on the phone after it is over, but to be there was very special.

The week was very full indeed! I will cherish the time I got to spend with my family & friends.

God truly blessed me this Christmas.
